I don’t see it as a flaw. Yes, the mix of serious tension & goofy nerdgasm humor is a bit off from time to time but giving her a personal pin she must type to bounce is something she can keep personal & separate from the visual memories she’s experienceing in the stitch. She will be able to remember it if things get crazy.
